The role involves construction tasks using nuclear codes and standards for pipe, equipment, and machinery installations. It develops work plans, interprets vendor installation drawings and manuals, coordinates materials, performs and documents inspections, reports progress, and resolves design and construction conflicts related to mechanical equipment and piping installation and testing. The position is located at the construction site, 22 miles north of Richland, Washington. The schedule is four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on day shift. Extended work weeks or hours may be required or authorized to support the construction schedule. The role requires field inspections and project walk-downs, including extensive walking, climbing ladders and scaffolding, using fall protection and other PPE, walking on elevated or uneven surfaces, and maneuvering in small or confined spaces. The project is designing, constructing, and commissioning a radioactive waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Site. The plant will use vitrification to process and solidify radioactive and chemical waste.
