About The Position

Openwork is currently seeking several dependable Pipeyard Helpers for a well-established pipe, valve, flange company in Houston. This role involves various tasks related to pipeyard operations, including material handling, preparation for transit, and general maintenance.

Requirements

Moderate math and analytical skills.
Verifiable outdoor work experience.
Good communication skills.
Excellent work ethic: ability to work self-directed and as a flexible team player.
Ability to multitask.
Self-starter and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, climb and move about the facility.
Ability to occasionally lift to 50 lbs.
Available to work overtime if necessary, including Saturdays.
Willing to submit to a background check and drug test.
Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-50 lbs.
Occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs.
Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual; Spanish and English, preferred (ability to communicate effectively with warehouse personnel in both languages).

Experience with/Product knowledge with Flanges, Fittings and Pipe is a plus.
Experience on Sit-Down Forklift, Stand-up Reach Truck or Picker preferred.

Responsibilities

Follow verbal and hand signal instructions to identify pipe to be moved.
Verify heat numbers, quantity, and complete chocking of pipe.
Install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
Perform painting, stenciling, sandblasting, and coating of pipes.
Observe all safety precautions and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
Cross-train on alternate assignments and perform duties in other work areas as needed.
Maintain housekeeping in assigned work area.
Perform any other duties as requested by respective supervisor and/or manager.
