About The Position

Texas Pipe and Supply Company is a leading distributor of Carbon and Stainless Pipe, Fittings, and Flanges. The Pipe Yard Helper is responsible for supporting safe and efficient yard operations, including assisting forklift operators with loading and unloading trucks, moving and organizing pipe and materials, verifying inventory, and maintaining accurate product information using tablets and the company’s ERP system.

Requirements

Ability to work flexible and/or extended hours and weekends (normal schedule: 50 hrs.)
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
Stable work history, preferably in an industrial environment
Reliable transportation
Commitment to always working safely and following company policies and procedures
Positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team
Basic computer/tablet skills and ability to learn company ERP system functions
Ability to accurately read product descriptions, tags, heat numbers, quantities, and other identifying information
Must be able to lift and stack objects up to 50 lbs. occasionally and frequently exert 10 to 20 lbs. of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
Work involves long periods of standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching; may also include climbing ladders and stairs
Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain
Must be able to safely work around heavy equipment, trucks, forklifts, and industrial material

Responsibilities

Follow verbal and hand-signal instructions to safely identify and move pipe and other products
Assist forklift operators with loading and unloading trucks
Verify product type, heat numbers, quantities, dimensions, and other identifying information
Perform physical inventory validation by comparing material to ERP records, tags, and shipping documentation
Use company-issued tablets to access the ERP system and record or verify inventory information
Complete inventory transactions and updates as required, including product movements, locations, and quantities
Scan barcodes or product identification when applicable
Report inventory discrepancies, damaged material, missing product, or incorrect locations to the appropriate supervisor
Assist with receiving and shipping activities, including verifying products against orders and documentation
Maintain accurate product identification and ensure materials are stored in designated locations
Maintain organized yard locations to support efficient product movement and retrieval
Install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage during transportation
Perform painting, stenciling, sandblasting, coating, or other product preparation activities as assigned
Observe all safety precautions and always wear appropriate PPE
Maintain housekeeping in assigned work areas
Crosstrain on alternate assignments and perform duties in other work areas as needed
Report equipment, material, inventory, or safety issues to the appropriate supervisor
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or manager
