About The Position

Albemarle is hiring for a Pipe Welder. This position is located on-site in Magnolia, AR. The role involves performing SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) and GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) on various materials, fabricating and maintaining piping systems, and working with technical drawings. The Pipe Welder will also be responsible for preparing materials for welding, operating fabrication tools, conducting field inspections, and participating in safety initiatives. Collaboration with other teams and maintaining a safe work environment are key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent, or equivalent military/work experience.
  • Experience with industrial pipe welding, fabrication, or maintenance experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, blueprints, and isometric drawings.
  • Experience performing SMAW and GTAW welding on carbon steel and stainless steel piping systems.
  • Ability to fabricate, grind, bevel, and prepare pipe for welding and pass applicable welding qualification tests.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices in a chemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical training, vocational certification, or welding certification from an accredited program.
  • 3-5+ years of industrial pipe welding experience in a chemical, petrochemical, refinery, or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with drawing and fabrication of lined, screwed, and welded piping systems.
  • Familiarity with Albemarle welding procedures, engineering standards, and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Experience using cutting torches, plasma cutters, and other fabrication equipment.
  • Strong verbal, written, and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and identify safety, quality, and cost improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) and GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other plant-approved materials.
  • Fabricate, install, modify, repair, and maintain piping systems, structural steel, vessels, and related equipment in accordance with applicable codes, specifications, drawings, and Albemarle engineering standards.
  • Read, interpret, and work from P&IDs, blueprints, isometric drawings, and fabrication sketches to complete work accurately and efficiently.
  • Create and modify isometric drawings and field sketches as needed to support fabrication and maintenance activities.
  • Prepare materials for welding through cutting, grinding, beveling, fitting, and layout work.
  • Operate cutting torches, plasma cutters, grinders, and other fabrication tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Perform welds that meet quality standards and successfully pass required visual, X-ray, and other non-destructive examination (NDE) inspections.
  • Conduct field inspections to identify maintenance needs, equipment deficiencies, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in safety meetings, perform Job Safety Analyses (JSAs/LSAs), and consistently follow Albemarle safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors, and other team members to safely complete work and support plant reliability.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while demonstrating a commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement.
