About The Position
The Town of Brookline’s Department of Public Works is seeking a dependable and hardworking Pipe Layer to join our Water & Sewer Division. This hands-on role is essential to maintaining the Town’s water and sewer infrastructure and ensuring reliable service to our residents. The Pipe Layer performs a variety of manual labor and maintenance tasks.
Requirements
- Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance, safe work practices, and work zone safety is required.
- Can operate light equipment
- Assist other crew members on various projects
- Strong teamwork skills
- A high school diploma
- At least two years of experience in water and sewer construction, maintenance, or similar utility work, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Must possess a valid Massachusetts Class D Driver’s License.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with excavating and backfilling utility trenches
- Maintaining hydrant and water main valves
- Cleaning and maintaining water storage facilities, reservoirs, and surrounding grounds
- Performing seasonal work such as mowing, leaf raking, and snow removal
- Responding to emergencies involving water or sewer systems
- Installing, repairing, and maintaining water mains, service pipes, hydrants, and sewer/drain connections
- Performs other duties as assigned
