About The Position

Hutco, Inc. is seeking experienced 1st Class Pipefitters for work in Newport News, Virginia. Candidates must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the marine, commercial nuclear, or petrochemical industry. Pipefitters will perform the fitting, fabrication, preparation, and installation of carbon steel, CRES (stainless steel), and copper-nickel piping and associated components in demanding shipboard and sub-assembly environments.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of documented pipefitting experience in the marine, commercial nuclear, or petrochemical industry
• Ability to read and interpret ship piping drawings
• Experience fitting carbon steel, CRES, and copper-nickel piping
• Ability to perform piping end preparation by hand and/or using Wachs or Portsmouth machines
• Experience installing pipe hangers
• Ability to accurately measure using a ruler in inches and tenths
• Ability to prepare and fit backing rings
• Ability to clean-cut or break pipe using a grinder
• Ability to hand-prep V-bevels
• Experience fabricating piping details and assemblies from drawings
• Experience bending pipe using templates and hand benders
• Ability to fit welded socket fittings
• Ability to fit brazed joints with or without insert rings

Responsibilities

• Perform the fitting, fabrication, preparation, and installation of carbon steel, CRES (stainless steel), and copper-nickel piping and associated components in demanding shipboard and sub-assembly environments.
• Read and interpret ship piping drawings.
• Perform piping end preparation by hand and/or using Wachs or Portsmouth machines.
• Install pipe hangers.
• Prepare and fit backing rings.
• Clean-cut or break pipe using a grinder.
• Hand-prep V-bevels.
• Fabricate piping details and assemblies from drawings.
• Bend pipe using templates and hand benders.
• Fit welded socket fittings.
• Fit brazed joints with or without insert rings.
• Work safely in a shipyard and shipboard environment.
• Perform physical requirements associated with first-class pipefitting assignments.
• Be available to work assigned shifts based on production needs.
