The Pilot Lab Technician will support internal and external development efforts at the Liquid Manufacturing and Technology Center (LMTC). Individuals will need to be familiar with current chemical production functions, QA laboratory functions, as well as be able to learn and transfer new processes/products to manufacturing personnel. Pilot work will consist of coordinating pilot lab scale and production scale product trials, making ink in lab and production size batches, setting up pilot areas and processes, documenting and presenting formal reports of product trial results, performing basic analysis of data, developing and writing work instructions for ink production, coordinating with engineering and operations to perform time studies, training existing Chemical Operators and Laboratory Technicians on new products or processes, coordinating with engineering and R&D to create process flow diagrams and FMEAs, shipping pilot batches, raw materials, and samples in compliance with DOT, IATA, and IMDG regulations, managing data for manufacturing databases, communicating with Quality/Engineering Manager and/or EHS Specialist regarding chemical hazards, and participating in site continuous improvement and safety programs. This position will be exposed to a wide range of analytical tools, including thought maps, process maps, multivariate studies, measurement systems analysis, and design of experiment. This position will also participate in Process Safety Management assessments for new and existing processes.
