About The Position

The Lab Technician will execute daily work assignments in line with all company procedures and safety policies, maintaining a safe environment for all personnel. This role involves performing safety equipment and equipment inspections, analyzing products for purity and mixture conformance to specifications, and testing/certifying incoming raw materials. The technician will also perform LTS, data entry, MCA studies, and other special analyses as required, while keeping work areas organized and maintaining analytical equipment. Documentation and data systems interface are key aspects, along with addressing clerical issues to ensure successful product shipment. Routine maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of analytical equipment are also responsibilities. The role may include updating work instructions and procedures, and potentially serving as a member of the emergency response team.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirement of 2-years related analytical experience (if not holding a BS Chemistry or related science degree).
  • Strong math and computer skills.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Able to read and understand elements of a chromatogram.
  • Understand LTS requirements for successful completion of analysis work.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot a variety of issues and complete a root cause analysis.
  • Strong team work skills.
  • Personal commitment to safety and quality.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend multiple flights of stairs.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Must be able to stand on his/her feet for extended periods of time.
  • Must be physically flexible including bending, rotating, and kneeling.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as Level A suit, full face respirator, SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus), safety glasses, steel toed shoes, Tyvek, hearing protection and gloves.

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily work assignments in line with all company procedures and safety policies.
  • Maintain a safe environment for all personnel.
  • Perform safety equipment and equipment inspections per procedures.
  • Perform minor maintenance work as needed.
  • Analyze products for purity conformance to specifications and mixture products for conformance to specifications.
  • Test and certify incoming raw materials for production.
  • Perform analysis, LTS, and data entry with a high degree of accuracy and pace needed to meet shipments.
  • Perform MCA studies successfully and other special analyses as required by supervisor, lead or management.
  • Keep work areas organized and maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all assigned areas.
  • Maintain analytical equipment and tools in a safe working order.
  • Complete all required documentation and records in a neat and orderly fashion following good documentation practices including Laboratory Notebooks, Samplemanager and CRM.
  • Interface with the data systems used at Matheson to complete work.
  • Address clerical issues that arise in order for products to be successfully shipped to customers.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration on analytical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and dismantle defective equipment and install new or repair equipment and/or parts.
  • Perform other work as assigned.
  • Update work instructions and procedures.
  • Member of emergency response team, if required.
