About The Position

Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air interns work with teams across departments on visible projects that affect guests and the business. The internship provides hands-on experience and opportunities to network with employees and company leaders through intern events and programming. Interns receive unlimited standby travel benefits during the internship.

This full-time, 12-week internship is for summer 2027 and is based at the Global Training Center in Renton, Washington. Candidates who do not already live in the internship city must relocate for the duration of the internship. The internship is designed to provide skill development and work experience; it does not guarantee future employment or a relevant role after completion.

Requirements

• Be working toward a bachelor’s degree in professional aviation or a related field, with a focus on becoming a pilot.
• Hold a Private Pilot license and have at least 50 hours of flight time.
• Be familiar with pilot carts (Jeppesen charts).
• Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program and have at least one semester or quarter of school remaining after the internship.
• Have achieved junior or higher academic standing at the time of application.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Be at least 18 years old.
• Be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Pilot Office with tasks and projects.
• Assist the training department with curriculum and instructional presentations.
• Assist with delay meetings and reports.
• Assist technical pilots with test flights.
• Participate in simulator flying or observation and special projects.
• Help with engineering projects related to weight and balance or performance analysis.
• Help coordinate and participate in special demonstration flights of new technology or procedures.
