Pig Bus Driver/Farm Associate
About The Position
Belstra Group Farms LLC is a pig production organization with multiple swine farm facilities located in Northwest Indiana. Belstra is in search of a full-time bus driver, light maintenance & pig care at our Sow Units. Belstra Group Farms is committed to producing the highest quality of pigs. This individual is responsible for safely driving a bus filled with pigs from site to site. This job starts at 6 am each day averaging 50 hours per week, including weekends. The individual member must work in compliance with all the company policies, local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations.
Requirements
- Able to drive safely on the road in all weather conditions
- Patience and attention to detail
- Withstand exposure to seasonal weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of farm maintenance
- Stand, walk, or be on feet for long periods of time
- Frequently bend, reach, squat, kneel
- Frequently use one or both hands/arms to grasp or pull.
- Frequently lift objects weighing 50+ pounds
- High school diploma or G.E.D
- Valid driver’s license
- English is required
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual is a plus
- Previous pig production experience is plus, but not required
Responsibilities
- Driving a remodeled school bus filled with pigs safely from driveway to barn
- General welding and electrical work
- Routine equipment/facility maintenance
- Use common hand and power tools
- Some pig handling
- Keep the bus clean
- Follow all animal handling guidelines & biosecurity requirements
