About The Position

The Picker is responsible for removing or discarding products and materials to ensure they meet established specifications while complying with company Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. The role involves physical activities requiring considerable use of the arms and legs, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Candidates must be able to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form and learn new tasks as assigned. Scrap-yard experience is preferred. The listed duties describe the general nature and level of the work and are not an exhaustive list of responsibilities or required skills.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old in the United States or 16 years old in Canada. Responsibilities

• Adhere strictly to Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
• Help provide a safe environment for employees, customers, and visitors.
• Perform general cleanup and yard maintenance, including digging, sweeping, maintaining weeds and brush, and repairing blacktop.
• Remove non-metallic material, metal, and debris at the shredder and non-ferrous picking belts.
• Perform greasing and general cleanup at the shear and/or shredder.
• Assist with repairs and maintenance as required.
• Provide backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed or assigned.
• Report equipment deficiencies or malfunctions to the proper supervisor for maintenance or repair.
