About The Position

The Picker removes or discards products and materials to ensure they meet established specifications while complying with the company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. The role involves physically demanding work, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. Pickers also perform yard cleanup and maintenance, remove materials and debris around processing equipment, assist with repairs and maintenance, and provide support throughout the yard as assigned.

Applicants must be able to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions and learn new tasks. Scrap yard experience is preferred. U.S. applicants must be at least 18 years old; Canadian applicants must be at least 16 years old. U.S. employment offers are contingent on satisfactory completion of a post-offer drug screen and background check. New hires must review and sign an Arbitration Agreement; this applies to U.S. non-union employees. Responsibilities

• Adhere strictly to Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
• Help provide a safe environment for employees, customers, and visitors.
• Perform general cleanup and yard maintenance, including digging, sweeping, maintaining weeds and brush, and repairing blacktop.
• Remove non-metallic material, metal, and debris at the shredder and non-ferrous picking belts.
• Grease and perform general cleanup at the shear and/or shredder.
• Assist with repairs and maintenance as required.
• Provide backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed or assigned.
• Report equipment deficiencies or malfunctions to the appropriate supervisor for maintenance or repair.
