About The Position

The Pick & Prep Chef prepares Pick & Prep products and provides product preparation services to create a sensory, engaging guest experience while operating at or above company standards. The role involves engaging guests through product preparation, sampling, and suggestive selling; demonstrating knife skills and product knowledge; and maintaining the department’s merchandising, operational, quality, sanitation, and safety standards. The chef also performs preparation, receiving, ordering, stocking, merchandising, guest service, and public-address announcements as needed, along with other duties assigned by management.

Requirements

• Ability to work well with others.
• Ability to lift 25 pounds consistently and 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to read and understand information and directions.
• Knowledge of Pick & Prep operations.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical job requirements, including knife skills.
• Effective communication, guest service, and selling skills.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to communicate effectively with and take direction from supervisors.
• Ability to work with computers and scales.

Responsibilities

• Engage guests through product preparation, active sampling, and suggestive selling.
• Demonstrate superior guest service, including sharing stories about department products and highlighting benefits such as freshness, healthfulness, seasonality, and local sourcing.
• Demonstrate knife showmanship to highlight Pick & Prep services and offerings.
• Operate the Pick & Prep area according to merchandising and operational standards.
• Ensure products for sale meet Lowes Foods quality standards.
• Maintain department sanitation and safety according to Lowes Foods standards.
• Perform product preparation, receiving, ordering, stocking, merchandising, and guest service as needed to meet standards.
• Make public-address announcements.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.
