About The Position

Empowerment Academy Charter School is seeking a High School Physics Teacher for the upcoming 2026/2027 School Year and beyond. This role is at Empowerment’s High School. The school is a dynamic and successful charter school that supports its teachers and staff, serving a diverse student population in Jersey City, Hoboken, and New York City. Empowerment Academy emphasizes teamwork and community, aiming for academic success without teacher burnout through effective educational programs and support systems. Teachers receive career-long coaching, professional development, and work within professional learning communities (PLCs) for lesson planning and problem-solving. They also partner with specialists to address diverse student needs.

Requirements

• Teacher certification is required.
• Must hold a CE, CEAS, Limited CE, or Standard Certificate in “Physics" or Physical Science.
• Must be certified by the NJ DOE or graduating in May with teacher certification.
• Experience in teaching Physics at the high school level.

Responsibilities

• Teach High School Physics.
• Collaborate with school leaders for coaching and professional development.
• Work with peers in PLCs to plan lessons and solve problems.
• Partner with specialists to meet scholars’ diverse needs.
• Utilize formative assessments to identify student mastery.
• Support students struggling with academic or non-academic problems.
