About The Position

The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System’s Geriatrics and Extended Care Service is seeking an experienced Physician (Geriatrics) to collaborate with the HBPC Medical Director on the overall medical care delivered by the Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) team. The position is aligned under the Section Chief of Home Based Primary Care and is located at the Lee County Healthcare Center in Cape Coral, Florida. The selected candidate will spend approximately 70% of their time on clinical responsibilities and 30% on administrative responsibilities. The position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), subject to program eligibility and approval. The role includes clinical oversight of HBPC providers, participation in team and leadership activities, and support for medical-care quality, compliance, and continuity. The physician will maintain full clinical privileges as a member of the Medical Staff and may provide supervision to residents and students. The position also includes cross-coverage for other HBPC physicians and occasional weekend and holiday coverage, including night on-call coverage for patients in the Community Living Center. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; schedules may vary temporarily or permanently based on facility or patient-care needs. VA describes a total rewards package that includes competitive salary, annual performance bonuses and salary increases; 50–55 days of paid time off per year, including annual and sick leave, federal holidays, and possible CME leave; a federal pension and 401(k) contributions of up to 5%; federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care insurance; possible CME reimbursement of $1,000 per year for eligible full-time, board-certified physicians; and malpractice liability protection with tail coverage. There is no physician employment contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting.
