About The Position

Essentia Health is recruiting a psychiatrist for an in-person, 1.0 FTE position on the Psychiatry Consult Service in Duluth, Minnesota. The position follows a 14-days-on/14-days-off rotation and participates in a 7-day service coverage model from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Overnight and weekend call is shared by the physician pool and averages once a week while on service. The role includes providing telehealth services to area critical access hospitals; managing psychiatric care in the emergency department, including leading care rounds, triage, and evaluation; and consulting at a Level 1 Trauma Center.

The physician joins a Behavioral Health Care Team that includes 16 adult and 5 child and adolescent psychiatrists, doctoral-level psychologists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychotherapists, registered nurses, and clinical assistants. The division provides inpatient psychiatric care, consult-liaison and emergency psychiatry, intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization services, and outpatient behavioral health care. The team also includes health psychologists at the doctoral and master's levels, and an integrated pharmacist team that includes a hospitalist and pharmacist. Essentia Health Duluth has a 44-bed adult inpatient unit and a 16-bed child and adolescent inpatient unit. ECT is not currently being provided, though restarting it is a goal.

The required qualification is board certification or board eligibility in psychiatry. Interest in ECT is a plus. Compensation is listed as $376,155; hired candidates may also be eligible for bonuses, quality incentives, or production-based compensation.
