About The Position

The Physician examines patients, obtains medical histories, and orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic tests. The role includes counseling patients about illnesses, injuries, health conditions, and preventive healthcare. The Physician acts independently and consistently exercises discretion and judgment in medical care.

Requirements

• Hold a current Michigan license to practice medicine.
• Obtain and maintain medical staff privileges at appropriate subsidiary hospitals.
• Hold board certification in the area of specialty, where required.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical care, including patient interviews, examinations, diagnosis, and appropriate medical or surgical treatment.
• Educate patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection through interpersonal communication and/or informational materials for patients and family members.
• Assess the need for additional health care and, when clinically indicated, refer patients to providers for specialty care.
• Assess the urgency of patients’ medical needs to determine appropriate follow-up schedules and referral or consultation appointments.
• Exercise sound medical judgment in matters concerning each patient’s medical diagnosis and treatment.
