About The Position

The physician is responsible for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of the health problems presented by the patients. This role involves developing and cultivating positive and productive working relationships, promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, and collaboration, and demonstrating a commitment to distinctive, personalized care. The physician will assist in meeting operational, financial, and patient satisfaction goals, complete all required competencies, and assess and monitor the medical needs of patients. Quality medical services are to be provided in a cost-effective and appropriate manner, ensuring coverage of the caseload at all times. Regular communication with patients' families, referring physicians, specialists, nursing staff, and other hospital departments regarding the plan of care and treatment is essential. Medical services must be documented in the patient’s medical record according to hospital, payor, and regulatory standards. Participation in on-call and weekend coverage, value-based reimbursement programs, quality initiatives, Quality Improvement (QI) / Quality Assurance (QA) activities, and peer review is required. The role also involves assisting in the development of policies and procedures related to medical practice and quality patient care, and participating in ongoing process improvement activities. Support for patient participation in clinical trials and research projects, assessment of clinical safety and efficacy data, and providing oversight, teaching, and mentorship of fellows, residents, APPs, and students are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Doctorate
  • LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 120 Days required
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosis, prevention and treatment of patient health problems.
  • Develop and cultivate positive and productive working relationships with Corewell Health personnel.
  • Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, compassion, collaboration, clarity, curiosity, and courage.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to service and distinctive, personalized care with internal and external customers.

  • Timely completion of all specific competencies and annual organizational mandatories.
  • Assess and monitor the medical needs of patients.
  • Provide quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensure coverage of case load at all times.
  • Communicate regularly with patients’ families, referring physicians, specialists, nursing staff and other hospital departments regarding the plan of care and treatment of patients.
  • Document medical services in the patient’s medical record in a manner consistent with hospital, payor, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in on-call and weekend coverage, as required by the Department.
  • Participate in value-based reimbursement programs and quality initiatives, as required by the Department.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) / Quality Assurance (QA) and peer review activities as requested.
  • Assist, as requested, in the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.
  • Participate in ongoing process improvement activities through the development/application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.
  • Support patient participation in clinical trials and research projects, assess clinical safety and efficacy data, consistent with Research Institute policies.
  • Provide oversight, teaching, and mentorship of fellows, residents, APPs (e.g., physician assistants and advance practice registered nurses), and students and others (as appropriate) providing services to patients, including meaningful participation with the affiliated medical schools as requested.
