The Physician Services Clerk provides quality customer service to patients and performs those functions delegated and assigned by the Office Manager. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, Associate’s degree or high preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with computers, coding, and medical terminology preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, problem-solve, and handle stress in a positive manner.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out front office activities in a kind and courteous manner and is helpful to customers and their families.
  • Notify office manager of customer complaints in a timely manner.
  • Gather appropriate demographic information on each customer and update the practice management system.
  • Notify customers of long waits and offers alternatives.
  • Ensure effective telephone communication and documents messages.
  • Coordinate all EMR/medical record activities.
  • Collect and post payments and ensure safety and security of all monies.
  • Schedule patients and coordinates appointment scheduler activities to facilitate efficient patient flow.
  • Perform insurance eligibility verification and obtain prior authorization as needed.
  • Research patient ledger in effort to educate patient on balances due and collect payment for services rendered.
  • Perform appointment confirmation telephone calls.
  • Complete required in-services.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of patient satisfaction improvements.
  • Makes referrals to other medical care team members when needed.
