About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking a BC/BE Psychiatrist to join its multi-specialty, group practice in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. This is an outpatient practice with call and potential for inpatient in the future. The role offers the opportunity to become part of an established mental health program with 100 diverse and talented team members. The facility includes an in-patient unit, a residential treatment facility for mentally ill adults, mental health treatment for children, a four-county outreach program for adults, an adult work therapy program, and community-based services for children and families. A new 16-bed state-of-the-art inpatient psychiatric unit opened in 2015. Thief River Falls qualifies as a HPSA.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion of a hospital affiliated Psychiatry residency program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • Applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their residency training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
  • Demonstrate active involvement of inpatient services to be at least 30 patients in the last 12 months.
  • Demonstrate active involvement in the care of 30 patients in clinical practice in the last 12 months.

Nice To Haves

  • Training at residency and programs accredited by organizations other than the ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process as defined in the Credentialing Policy.
  • Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their residency training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement. Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examination.
  • Admit patients (if applicable to the setting).
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients above the age of 12 who suffer from mental, behavioral, addictive, or emotional disorders (e.g., psychoses, depression, anxiety disorders, substance abuse disorders, developmental disabilities, sexual dysfunctions, and adjustment disorders).
