About The Position

The West Virginia University Health System, the state’s largest health system and largest private employer, comprises 18 hospitals throughout the state and bordering states. In addition, it includes five institutes, as well as providing management services for other local hospitals through affiliate agreements. WVUHS Medical Group seeks a primary care sports medicine physician. The successful candidate/candidates will be expected to practice in the primary location of Charleston and South Charleston, WV. WVU Medicine is West Virginia University’s affiliated health system, West Virginia’s largest private employer, and a national leader in patient safety and quality. The WVU Health System is comprised of a network of 30 hospitals and their affiliated clinics, anchored by its flagship hospital, J.W. Ruby Memorial in Morgantown, an 881-bed academic medical center that offers tertiary and quaternary care. The WVU Medicine System has more than 35,000 employees, 4,000 clinicians, and serves hundreds of thousands of people annually from across the region and the nation with more than 4.5 million patient visits annually.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent
  • Eligible to obtain state medical license
  • Completed a Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Mon-Peds residency program
  • Completed a Sports Medicine fellowship
  • Board certified/eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Med-Peds
  • All qualifications must be met at the time of appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Practice in the area of primary care sports medicine.
