About The Position

The Pediatric Physician provides high-quality, comprehensive healthcare to a diverse patient population in an outpatient clinic setting. Working collaboratively with other healthcare providers, the physician delivers accessible, patient-centered, compassionate care, including direct clinical services and health education, and supports community health initiatives and preventive care efforts. The position serves underserved and vulnerable populations and includes travel to other clinical locations as required. The physician is expected to uphold SIHF Healthcare’s vision, mission, and values, treat patients and colleagues with dignity and respect, follow customer service standards, maintain confidentiality, and comply with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies. The role also includes understanding and fulfilling responsibilities within the Patient Centered Medical Home and maintaining proficiency within the physician’s scope of practice.

Requirements

MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
Board certified or board-eligible in Pediatrics.
Licensed to practice in Illinois or eligible for Illinois licensure.
Extensive knowledge of pediatric medicine, including acute and chronic disease management, prevention, and health promotion.
Ability to provide care in diverse, multicultural, underserved communities and demonstrate cultural competency across racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, patient-centered healthcare team.
Strong communication skills and ability to educate and engage patients with clear, compassionate explanations of treatment options.
Proficiency with Electronic Health Record systems and other healthcare technologies.
Ability to manage a patient caseload while balancing clinical and administrative responsibilities.
Expertise in preventive care, chronic disease management, and patient education.
Strong organizational, time-management, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to adapt to an FQHC setting serving high-need, vulnerable populations and to make informed clinical decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Two or more years of experience as a pediatrician preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide direct clinical care to a diverse patient panel in an outpatient clinic, managing acute and chronic conditions.
Perform comprehensive health assessments, including physical examinations and diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans.
Prescribe medications, administer immunizations, and monitor patients’ ongoing care.
Provide preventive services, including health screenings, wellness checks, and chronic disease management.
Collaborate with healthcare providers, including specialists, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and nurses, and coordinate referrals as needed.
Deliver culturally sensitive care that considers social determinants of health and serves underserved and vulnerable populations.
Participate in community outreach, provide health education, and promote disease prevention and awareness.
Attend relevant clinical department meetings, healthcare facility site meetings, and other meetings requiring the provider’s participation.
Document patient encounters accurately and promptly in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Comply with healthcare policies, procedures, regulations, and FQHC-specific guidelines, and stay current with advancements in internal medicine.
Model professionalism and effective communication within the healthcare team.
Protect patient confidentiality and follow organizational protocols.
Comply with applicable laws and regulations related to collaborative agreements and licensure, and with SIHF Healthcare policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Understand and fulfill Patient Centered Medical Home expectations and responsibilities, including maintaining proficiency within the physician’s scope of practice.
