About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking a BC/BE Pediatric Pulmonologist to join a team of 20 pediatric specialties at Sanford Children’s Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. This is a clinic-based practice with hospital consults throughout the Children's Hospital (NICU, Peds, PICU). The role involves growing the Cystic Fibrosis program, which includes outpatient and inpatient care. Sanford Health is an affiliate Cystic Fibrosis center of the University of Minnesota with a dedicated team. Sanford Children's Hospital is one of 195 designated National Association of Children’s Hospitals in the country and the region’s only Level II Pediatric Trauma Center. Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion of a Pediatric residency program.
  • Completion of a fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonary accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • Applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • An applicant who has just completed a fellowship shall provide his/her fellowship log.
  • An applicant who is not applying directly out of a fellowship shall provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the last 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications. The applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement of inpatient services to be at least 50 patients in the last 12 months.
  • If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicant’s clinic activity for the last 12 months is required. The applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement in the care of 50 patients in clinical practice in the last 12 months.
  • Training at residency and fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than the ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process as defined in the Credentialing Policy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examination.
  • Admit patients (if applicable to the setting).
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment or consultative services to children, adolescents, and young adults presenting with conditions, disorders, injuries, and diseases of the respiratory system, to include lungs, cardiovascular and tracheobronchial systems, esophagus and other mediastinal contents, diaphragm and circulatory systems.
