About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking a BC/BE Pediatric Neurologist to join their pediatric specialty team at Sanford Children’s Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. This is a clinic-based practice with hospital consults within a 72+ bed Children's Hospital. The role includes a joint appointment as clinical faculty with the Department of Pediatrics at UND School of Medicine and Health Science, teaching medical students and family medicine residents, and serving as faculty in a future adult neurology residency program. The position is within a growing team of one physician and one advanced practice provider, supported by a well-established pediatric team of over 65 sub-specialists. The hospital is a designated comprehensive stroke center and has a Level 1 Trauma Center for adults and the only Level 2 pediatric trauma unit. Sanford Health Fargo serves a large catchment area of 1.2 million people across North Dakota, Minnesota, and parts of South Dakota and Montana.

Requirements

M.D. or D.O. degree
Successful completion of a Child Neurology residency accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada
Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable
Applicants not board certified at the time of application but who have completed residency within the last five years must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement
Demonstrate active involvement of inpatient services for at least 50 patients in the last 12 months OR documentation of clinic activity for the last 12 months demonstrating active involvement in the care of 50 patients in clinical practice
If just completed residency, provide residency log
If not applying directly out of residency, provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where currently has privileges showing clinical activity for the last 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications

Training at residency programs accredited by organizations other than ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process

Responsibilities

Perform history and physical examinations
Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to neonates, infants, children, and adolescents
