About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking a BC/BE Pediatric Endocrinologist to join their pediatric specialty team at Sanford Children’s Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. The role involves a clinic-based practice with hospital consults throughout the Children's Hospital (NICU, Peds, PICU). The practice covers a full array of endocrine conditions including thyroid, diabetes, and a growing number of transgender patients. The physician will collaborate with an on-staff pediatric psychologist specializing in gender dysphoria and benefit from integrated behavioral health within the clinic. The position also includes outreach to regional Sanford clinics. Sanford Health Fargo serves a large catchment area of 1.2 million throughout ND, MN and parts of SD and MT. This role includes a joint appointment as clinical faculty with the Department of Pediatrics at UND School of Medicine and Health Science, teaching medical students and residents, with an upcoming pediatric residency in 2024.

Requirements

M.D. or D.O. degree.
Successful completion of a Pediatric residency program.
Completion of a fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
Applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
Demonstrate active involvement of inpatient services to at least 50 patients in the last 12 months OR demonstrate active involvement in the care of 50 patients in clinical practice in the last 12 months.
Provide fellowship log OR quality profile from hospital(s) where currently has privileges showing clinical activity for the last 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications OR documentation of clinic activity for the last 12 months if quality profile is not available.

Responsibilities

Perform history and physical examination.
Admit patients (if applicable to the setting).
Evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment or consultative services to infants, children, adolescents, and young adults presenting with illness and disorders of the endocrine systems.
Manage conditions including, but not limited to, diabetes mellitus, growth failure, unusual size for age, early or late pubertal development, birth defects, defects of the genital region, and disorders of the thyroid, adrenal, and pituitary glands.
Provide hospital consults throughout the Children's Hospital (NICU, Peds, PICU).
Collaborate with the on-staff pediatric psychologist specializing in gender dysphoria.
Participate in outreach to regional Sanford clinics.
Teach medical students and family medicine residents as clinical faculty with the Department of Pediatrics at UND School of Medicine and Health Science.
Potentially teach in an upcoming pediatric residency in 2024.
