About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a BC/BE fellowship-trained Pediatric Cardiologist for Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, Wisconsin. This role involves joining a well-established department with a collegial team and dedicated support staff. The position includes outpatient clinic duties, inpatient consults to Pediatrics, PICU, and NICU, EKG and Echo interpretations, and a 1:3 hospital call schedule. The department features a dedicated clinic space with its own Pediatric Echo lab and a partnership with an onsite fetal-maternal medicine group. There is an existing partnership with Children's Hospital of Wisconsin to provide some onsite pediatric heart surgeries, and outreach to other Marshfield Clinic Health System locations is also part of the role. Marshfield Children's Hospital is Central Wisconsin's only accredited pediatric hospital, equipped with advanced technology and a comprehensive range of pediatric specialties and support staff, including a Level 3 NICU and a PICU with 24/7 intensivist support. The hospital is also an ACS Verified Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Program and a member of the Children's Oncology Group. Physicians are encouraged to participate in medical education and research.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion of a Pediatric residency program of at least three years’ duration.
  • Completion of a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology of at least 3 years’ duration accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification by the appropriate specialty /subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • Applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
  • Demonstrate active involvement of 25 Pediatric Cardiology procedures during the past two years with satisfactory quality data.
  • If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicant’s clinical-based activity for the past 24 months is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examination
  • Admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide treatment or consultative services to children and adolescents up to the age of 21 presenting with cardiovascular disease and adults with history of congenital heart disease and disorders of the heart and blood vessels.
  • Provide care to patients in the intensive care setting in conformance with Rules and Regulation and hospital policies.
