About The Position

Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, Wisconsin is seeking a BC/BE fellowship-trained Pediatric Cardiologist to join a well-established department. The role involves outpatient clinics, inpatient consults to Pediatrics, PICU, and NICU, EKG and Echo interpretations, and a 1:3 hospital call schedule. The department has dedicated clinic space with its own Pediatric Echo lab and partners with an onsite fetal-maternal medicine group. There is an existing partnership with Children's Hospital of Wisconsin for some onsite pediatric heart surgeries, and outreach to other Marshfield Clinic Health System locations is also part of the role. Physicians are encouraged to be involved in medical education and research.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Successful completion of a Pediatric residency program of at least three years’ duration
  • Completion of a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology of at least 3 years’ duration accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada
  • Certification by the appropriate specialty /subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable
  • If not board certified at the time of application, must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of fellowship training unless waived by the governing Board
  • Demonstrate active involvement of 25 Pediatric Cardiology procedures during the past two years with satisfactory quality data
  • If not applying directly out of fellowship, provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where currently has privileges showing clinical activity for the past 24 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications
  • If a quality profile is not available, documentation of clinical-based activity for the past 24 months is required

Nice To Haves

  • Training at residency or fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada may be considered by the Credentials Committee, Physician Executive or Medical Affairs Committee, and the Board of Directors or the Board of Governors.
  • Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examination
  • Admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide treatment or consultative services to children and adolescents up to the age of 21 presenting with cardiovascular disease
  • Treat adults with history of congenital heart disease and disorders of the heart and blood vessels
  • Provide care to patients in the intensive care setting
  • Interpret EKGs and Echocardiograms
  • Conduct outpatient clinics
  • Provide inpatient consults to Pediatrics, PICU and NICU
  • Participate in a 1:3 hospital call schedule
  • Engage in medical education and research
