About The Position

WakeMed Physician Practices is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Pediatric Pulmonologist to join its established Pediatric Pulmonology division in Wake County, North Carolina. The program, which began in September 2019, currently comprises one physician, two nurse practitioners, a care coordinator, respiratory therapists, and support staff. The division is planned to expand to five providers, including a sleep physician and APP support. This clinical role involves outpatient, inpatient, and endoscopic coverage, providing comprehensive care for children with respiratory issues. Services include outpatient clinics, inpatient consultative support for WakeMed Children’s Hospital and the emergency department, pulmonary function testing, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, and pediatric bronchoscopy. Call coverage and clinical responsibilities will be shared among physicians. The position reports directly to the Director of Pediatric Subspecialties.

Requirements

• Currently board-eligible or board-certified in Pediatric Pulmonology.
• Licensed Medical Physician Required.
• Doctorate Medicine Required.
• Fellowship/Internship/Residency - Related Area Required.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient, inpatient, and endoscopic coverage.
• Offer comprehensive care for children with respiratory problems.
• Provide inpatient consultative support for WakeMed Children’s Hospital and emergency department.
• Perform pulmonary function testing.
• Conduct cardiopulmonary exercise testing.
• Perform pediatric bronchoscopy.
• Share call coverage and clinical responsibilities with other physicians.
• Engage in medical student and resident teaching opportunities.
• Participate in community outreach with local general pediatric offices.
