About The Position

Bronson Children's Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan, is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Pediatric Critical Care Physician to join their team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will have successfully completed a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care. This role involves co-managing pediatric traumas and sedations, with opportunities for teaching in collaboration with Western Michigan University School of Medicine. Bronson's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is the only one in the region, serving a nine-county area in southwest Michigan. The hospital also offers comprehensive pediatric inpatient services and is a Level III Perinatal Center with a 34-bed Pediatric Unit, a 45-bed NICU, and an 8-bed PICU with a 4-bed step-down unit.

Requirements

BC/BE in Pediatrics (American Board of Pediatrics)
Graduate from an ACGME accredited program
Current unrestricted or pending Licensure in the state of Michigan
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to providing compassionate and quality patient-centered care
Medical degree and 2 years of direct or intern experience required
Current Medical License in the state of Michigan
Current DEA and DPS Certificate of Registration
Must maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges
Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques
Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment
Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette
Performs in a tactful and professional manner

Responsibilities

Co-manage pediatric traumas and sedations.
Participate in teaching opportunities with Western Michigan University School of Medicine.
Provide medical patient care by interviewing, examining, and treating clinical patients.
Educate patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection.
Determine necessary referrals based on examination and patient needs.
Determine the urgency of follow-up, referral, and consultation appointments.
Exercise final medical judgment in all healthcare issues.
Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.
Order studies, tests, and ancillary services.
Document all services in the patient medical record.
Review long-term cases requiring ongoing medical attention.
Consult with the Medical Director and other professionals as needed.
Participate in process improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs.
Oversee mid-level medical staff and nursing clinical staff as assigned.
Assist in the resolution of patient complaints, requests, and inquiries.
Maintain confidentiality of all patient information.
Demonstrate commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
