About The Position

Sanford Aberdeen Medical Center is seeking a BE/BC Orthopedic surgeon to join its multi-specialty group. Sanford Health is a leader in Orthopedic and Sports Medicine with coverage for collegiate, club and high school athletics. This is an opportunity to be a team physician for an NCAA Division II University in the strongest D-II conference in the country. The ideal candidate would have general orthopedic skills and experience to diagnose and treat a variety of musculoskeletal disorders, injuries, and grow a sports medicine practice. The facility includes 4 Large Surgery Suites & 21 Prep/Recovery Rooms, and 9 PACU Bays. Call will be shared with other orthopedic surgeons, and mid-level and athletic training support will be provided in clinic and on field. Onsite therapy services are also available.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Successful completion of a hospital affiliated orthopedic surgical residency program or a clinical Fellowship of at least five years’ duration accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada in the residency.
  • Certification by the appropriate specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • For those applicants that are not board certified at the time of application, but who have completed their residency training within the last five years; must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
  • Demonstrate at least 200 orthopedic surgery procedures in the last 24 months.
  • If not applying directly out of residency, provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing clinical activity for the past 24 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
  • If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicant’s hospital-based clinical activity for the past 24 months is required.

  • Perform history and physical examination
  • Admit, evaluate, diagnose, and provide pre-, intra-, and postoperative care
