About The Position

This role involves performing comprehensive clinical evaluations, imaging studies, and laboratory diagnostics to accurately diagnose and stage various malignancies. The physician will formulate individualized treatment protocols, continuously monitor patient responses, and manage treatment-related adverse effects. Responsibilities include educating patients and families, offering psychological support, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. The position also entails engaging in clinical trials, research, and quality improvement initiatives, maintaining up-to-date knowledge in oncology, mentoring staff, and contributing to strategic patient care planning.

Requirements

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Oncology.
  • No history of malpractice claims.
  • Submission of a most recent NPDB Self Query Report (dated within the last 30 days).
  • Active Vermont medical license (to be secured prior to employment commencement).
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in oncology in the United States or Canada.
  • Current Board Certification.
  • Eligibility for Board Certification.
  • Compliance with Vermont State License prerequisites.
  • Clear malpractice and licensure history, including a copy of the latest NPDB report.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive clinical evaluations, imaging studies, and laboratory diagnostics to accurately diagnose and stage various malignancies.
  • Formulate individualized treatment protocols that may involve chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, and targeted agents, tailored to the specific needs of each patient.
  • Continuously monitor and assess patient responses to treatment, making necessary adjustments to therapeutic regimens based on clinical findings.
  • Address and manage treatment-related adverse effects, providing supportive care aimed at optimizing patient comfort and quality of life.
  • Educate patients and their families on cancer diagnoses, available treatment modalities, and projected outcomes to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Offer psychological support and counseling throughout the cancer care continuum to enhance the patient experience.
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team that includes surgical oncologists, diagnostic radiologists, oncology nursing staff, nurse practitioners, and cancer navigators to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Engage in clinical trials, research endeavors, and quality enhancement initiatives to push the forefront of oncology practice.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base regarding evolving clinical guidelines, treatment innovations, and evidence-based protocols in oncology.
  • Mentor and guide oncology staff on best practices and advanced techniques in the field.
  • Contribute to strategic patient care planning and departmental initiatives aimed at improving overall patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
