About The Position

Allegheny Health Network’s (AHN) Women’s Institute is seeking a full-time Laborist (OB Hospitalist) to join a collaborative, patient-centered team in Pittsburgh. Requirements

• Completion of ACGME approved Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency
• Board Eligible/Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
• Licensed in the state of Pennsylvania prior to employment

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to obstetrical and gynecological patients in the hospital setting.
• Manage labor and delivery, including vaginal deliveries and Cesarean sections.
• Triage patients and manage admissions, transfers, and inpatient evaluations.
• Evaluate and manage obstetrical emergencies, including: Postpartum hemorrhage, Preeclampsia, Eclampsia.
• Evaluate and manage gynecological emergencies, including: Ectopic pregnancy, Pelvic inflammatory disease, Ovarian torsion.
• Provide consultation services to other medical specialties within the hospital.
• Perform gynecological surgeries as needed, based on training and experience.
• Provide postpartum care and education to new mothers.
• Collaborate with nurses, midwives, and other healthcare team members to provide coordinated, comprehensive patient care.
• Communicate effectively with referring physicians and outside providers.
• Maintain accurate and complete medical records, including documentation of: Patient history, Physical examination, Diagnosis, Treatment plan, Progress notes.
• Provide 24/7 in-house coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as assigned.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
• Participate in departmental meetings and continuing medical education activities.
• Adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• Supervise and teach medical students and residents, as needed.
• Assist with resident education and training.
