About The Position

Essentia Health is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible OB/GYN Hospitalist to join their team of MDs, NPs, and CNMs in Fargo, ND. This is a 0.6 FTE position. The practice is well-established in a rapidly growing community and handles approximately 1300 deliveries per year. As a Hospitalist, you will provide 24/7 in-house obstetric coverage for labor & delivery, triage, and emergency OB care. This includes managing high-risk pregnancies, obstetric emergencies, and unassigned/ED obstetric patients. The role involves performing vaginal deliveries, operative vaginal deliveries, and cesarean sections as the primary surgeon. You will collaborate closely with midwives, community OB/GYNs, anesthesia, pediatrics, and nursing to ensure safe, patient-centered care. Additionally, you will respond to OB/GYN consults from other hospital departments, evaluate and manage gynecologic issues presenting through the ED and inpatient services, and round on post-op patients. Minor GYN procedures/surgeries, such as D&C, diagnostic laparoscopy, and management of early pregnancy loss/ectopic pregnancy, may be performed as credentialed. Call shifts are 24 hours (8 am to 8 am) and include weekdays and weekends. The facility features a recently remodeled Labor and Delivery Unit with a Level III NICU, and offers subspecialty support including MFM with a genetic counselor, OB diabetic educator, Urogynecology Physician, and Gyn Oncology support.

Responsibilities
