About The Position

Evans Army Community Hospital at Fort Carson is seeking a board-certified neurologist to diagnose and treat Soldiers, retirees, and families facing disorders of the nervous system, including traumatic brain injury. You will see outpatients, support inpatient care, and use the full range of your skills, from lumbar punctures and EEG interpretation to botulinum toxin injections and telemedicine, all with a predictable weekday schedule.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from a U.S. or Canadian medical school, an LCME-approved school, an AOA-approved college of osteopathy, or a school with ECFMG certification
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-approved neurology residency
  • At least 24 months of neurology experience within the last 36 months
  • Current board certification in adult Neurology from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • DEA registration number (required for this position)
  • Current, valid, unrestricted medical license
  • Held in the U.S. jurisdiction where services are performed (Colorado)
  • Must remain free of limitations, stipulations, or pending adverse actions
  • U.S. citizenship (required for all positions on this contract)
  • Ability to submit a complete credentialing package within 30 days
  • Meet DoD health requirements before placement
  • Hepatitis B series with a positive titer; MMR and varicella (series or positive titer)
  • Annual influenza vaccine and tuberculosis screening (2-step PPD or QuantiFERON)

  • A skilled neurologist who is comfortable managing both outpatient clinic and inpatient needs
  • Confident handling urgent neurological problems with sound clinical judgment
  • Experienced, or eager to become experienced, with TBI and military-relevant neurological conditions
  • Comfortable using telemedicine to extend access to care
  • A thorough, organized communicator who documents carefully and works well on a team

Responsibilities

  • Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases and disorders of the nervous system
  • See outpatients as scheduled by the Government and provide inpatient care
  • Provide immediate evaluation and management of emergency problems as they occur
  • Care for patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI)
  • Perform lumbar punctures
  • Interpret evoked potentials and electroencephalograms (EEGs)
  • Provide chemodenervation, such as botulinum toxin injections, for common neurological conditions
  • Deliver telemedicine services
  • Prepare all records and reports required to support services rendered and by the MTF
  • Ensure a safe work environment and safe work habits for yourself and your colleagues
