Hennepin Healthcare is seeking a full-time vascular-trained neurologist at Minnesota's largest safety-net hospital. Equity-focused care and educating future medical students and neurologists in health equity and brain health are central to the organization’s mission. The role offers a balanced mix of inpatient and outpatient clinical care, a potential leadership opportunity, support for community outreach to reduce stroke risk and complications in underserved communities, and support for research in brain health and preventive neurology. The position emphasizes inpatient neurology and follows a 7-days-on/7-days-off schedule. The consult-only service averages an estimated 15–20 patients per day and includes consultations in the intensive care unit, general medical floor, and emergency room. The neurologist manages acute nonsurgical neurological problems, including acute stroke, and leads a teaching service of residents, interns, medical students, and a stroke APP. In-house neurology residents take first call for consults, including at night; the staff neurologist is not expected to be in the hospital after hours. Endovascular coverage is provided by the University of Minnesota. The position is partnered with the University of Minnesota. Research and clinical-trial opportunities are available to motivated applicants, and neurologists in the department may seek a University of Minnesota professorship appointment. The ideal candidate is comfortable treating acute neurological issues, has an academic mindset, and is dedicated to caring for underserved populations. Although inpatient neurology is the focus, the inpatient/outpatient balance is negotiable. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–6 p.m. in the hospital, with pager call after hours and on weekends from 8 a.m. until the end of rounds, followed by pager call. One week of call runs from 7 a.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. the following Tuesday.
