About The Position

The Department of Neurological Surgery at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center is seeking a Physician specializing in Neuro-Oncology to join their Brain Tumor Center. This is a national leader in Neuro-Oncology with a strong focus on expansion and collaboration with the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). The program is renowned for its work in surgical and medical clinical trials for CNS tumors, immunotherapy, and cancer stem cells, with faculty holding leadership roles in NCI-sponsored consortia and close ties to CWRU's medical and research departments. The position offers an academic appointment with a commensurate level of Professor based on experience and a competitive compensation package.

Requirements

Active Ohio Medical License in good standing upon effective date of employment
Excellent clinical, research and teaching skills
Responsibilities of the position include active participation in the clinical, educational and research programs of the Brain Tumor Center and Department of Neurosurgery.
Experience in the evaluation and surgical management of patients with primary and metastatic neoplasm are pre-requisites.
Should be board certified in Neurosurgery
Fellowship Training in some specialties (Required)

Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise. (Required proficiency)

Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage. (Required proficiency)

Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise. (Required proficiency)
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. (Required proficiency)

Responsibilities

Provides and manages direct medical evaluation, diagnosis, procedures, and care for patients within a recognized area of practice or for a specified patient population.
Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for a specified patient population.
Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.
Trains and supervises medical students and residents engaged in specialty activities and procedures, as appropriate.
May manage the daily operations of a specific medical program, patient care unit, or research function.
Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
As appropriate to the position, participates in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs.
Maintain department productivity thresholds.
Maintain faculty status in good standing with the CWRU SOM (if applicable).
Adhere to core physician obligations as outlined in the Physician Policy Manual.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Complies with all policies and standards.
Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.
