About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a BE/BC Hematology/Oncology physician to join an established Cancer Center & Research Program at Marshfield Medical Center – Marshfield in Marshfield, Wisconsin. The practice is integrated with regular provider meetings, physician advisory boards, tumor boards, and other collaborations. Extensive research opportunities are available, with about 10% outreach. The role involves a full oncology practice including outpatient infusion, inpatient capability, multidisciplinary tumor boards, and teaching opportunities. There is a strong research program with dedicated support for clinical trials. The organization supports work/life balance and physicians are assisted by a team of APPs. Radiation Oncology, Pathology, and Radiology support are available onsite.

Requirements

M.D. or D.O. degree.
Successful completion of a hospital-affiliated Internal Medicine residency program.
Completion of a Hematology or Oncology fellowship or integrated Hematology and Medical Oncology Program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
If not board certified at the time of application, must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of fellowship training unless waived.
Demonstrate active involvement of inpatient services for at least 50 patients in the last 12 months (if applying out of fellowship, use fellowship log; otherwise, use quality profile or clinic activity documentation).
Demonstrate active involvement in the care of 50 patients in clinical practice in the last 12 months (if quality profile is not available).

Nice To Haves

Training at residency and fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada may be considered via waiver of eligibility process.
Applicants who have completed fellowship training within the last five years and are not board certified at the time of application are eligible but must achieve board certification within five years.

Responsibilities

Admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients adolescence to adult with all types of cancer and other benign and malignant tumors.
Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards.
Engage in teaching opportunities.
Support clinical trials and research initiatives.
