The University of Kansas Health System is expanding and seeking an Interventional Cardiologist to join the dynamic team at our St. Francis Heart & Vascular Center in beautiful Topeka, Kansas. The practice includes an established group of 3 Interventionalists within a comprehensive cardiology group of 6 cardiologists, 6 APPs, and experienced support staff. Additionally, there are 2 cardiothoracic surgeons and 3 cardiothoracic APPs. This role focuses on clinical practice with no research or teaching required. The facility offers procedure rooms and testing available in the clinic, including nuclear stress, echo, echo stress, exercising stress testing, vascular sonography, coumadin clinic, cardiac rehab, vein clinic, and a device clinic. A structural heart program is in place, covering ASD/PFO, TAVR, and Watchman procedures. Referrals come from primary care, multiple specialists, hospitalists, and outreach in tertiary areas. The schedule is Monday-Friday with clinic, scheduled days in the cath lab, and a rotating IP schedule for weekends and holidays. Daily patient load in clinic is 2.5 patients per hour. Night and weekend call involves 1 weekend a month and variable nights (4-5 per month), with excess call pay. The EMR system is Epic, and advanced imaging systems include CV PACS Fuji, EKG Epiphany, and 3mensio structural heart. Smart technology, including Ambience AI scribe, is used to automate documentation and improve work-life balance.
