About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a BC/BE Internal Medicine Physician to join the Sanford Clinic Watertown group. This multi-specialty clinic offers a comprehensive range of services and on-site support from health coaches, integrated health therapists, and a clinical pharmacist. The position involves working 4 days per week, with opportunities for clinic procedures and nursing home rounding. The clinic is well-equipped with a full laboratory, x-ray department, Dexi scan, ultrasound, digital mammography, stress echoes, physical and occupational therapy, and specialized services like menopausal services, diabetes management, and Family Planning. Consultative physicians in various specialties are also available on-site.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion of an Internal Medicine residency program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • Applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their residency training within the last five years must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
  • Experience can be demonstrated by: a residency procedure log and a list of completed rotations for recent graduates; OR a quality profile from hospital(s) showing clinical activity for the last 12 months (including procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications) for applicants not applying directly out of residency, demonstrating active involvement with at least 50 patients in inpatient services in the last 12 months; OR if a quality profile is not available, documentation of clinic activity for the last 12 months is required, demonstrating active involvement in the care of 50 patients in clinical practice in the last 12 months.
  • More education and experience may be required for more advanced practice.

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examinations.
  • Admit patients (if applicable to the setting).
  • Evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultative services to adolescent and adult patients with common and complex illness, diseases and functional disorders of the circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, metabolic, musculoskeletal, hematopoietic, gastroenteric, and genitourinary systems.
  • Round on patients in nursing homes in the community.
  • Provide continuous patient education and follow-up with the support of health coaches, integrated health therapists, and clinical pharmacists.
