About The Position

Sutter Medical Group (SMG) seeks to hire a Physician Hospitalist to join an established Hospital Medicine team in Auburn, California. The role involves managing a patient census of 10-14 patients per hospitalist on average, with flexible scheduling options. The ICU model is Hybrid/Open, with hospitalists managing the ICU after 5 PM. Specialty support is available 24/7, including General Surgery, Orthopedics, Cardiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Stroke, and Psychiatry. There is no physician call required. The position is 1.0 FTE with a compensation structure including a base guarantee, productivity, and quality components.

Requirements

• Board Certified/Eligible in Hospital Medicine (e.g., ABIM/ABFM via ABMS as appropriate).
• Strong commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care and team-based practice.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Comfortable practicing in a Hybrid/Open ICU environment.
• Able to perform central lines and intubations.
• Valid medical licensure in the State of California prior to starting.
• Federal Unrestricted DEA.

• Open to FM-trained candidates with demonstrated ICU comfort.

Responsibilities

• Manage ICU patients after 5 PM, including critical care and procedures.
• Round on patients during day shifts (7 AM - 5 PM).
• Admit patients during day shifts.
• Perform central lines and intubations.
• Collaborate with various specialty teams for patient care.
