About The Position

Sutter Medical Group (SMG) seeks to hire a Physician Hospitalist to join an established Hospital Medicine team in Auburn, California. This role involves managing a patient census of 10-14 patients per day, working typical 5-7 day blocks with admissions during day shifts, and covering approximately 2 weekends per month. The position operates within a Hybrid/Open ICU model, with hospitalists managing the ICU after 5 PM, including critical care and procedures. Specialty support is robust, with 24/7 availability from General Surgery, Orthopedics, Cardiology, Nephrology, Tele-Neurology, Tele-Stroke, and Tele-Psychiatry. The role requires comfort with procedures such as central lines and intubations, and is open to FM-trained candidates with demonstrated ICU comfort. The position is a 1.0 FTE role with flexible scheduling preferences considered.

Requirements

Board Certified/Eligible in Hospital Medicine (e.g., ABIM/ABFM via ABMS as appropriate).
Strong commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care and team-based practice.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Comfortable practicing in a Hybrid/Open ICU environment.
Able to perform central lines and intubations.
Open to FM-trained candidates with demonstrated ICU comfort.
Valid medical licensure in the State of California prior to starting.
Federal Unrestricted DEA.

Responsibilities

Manage a patient census of 10-14 patients per Hospitalist on average.
