About The Position

Franciscan Physician Network is seeking a Board Eligible/ Board Certified Gastroenterologist to meet the growing demand for gastroenterology in Michigan City, IN. Join a busy, established practice with 5 experienced physicians and multiple advanced practice providers. The ideal candidate will have ERCP experience, an interest in Hepatology and a strong focus on clinical excellence and patient satisfaction. The candidate will display exceptional interpersonal skills and a desire to develop strong ties with the community and build long-lasting relationships with patients. The physician will need to work collaboratively with existing medical staff to coordinate and deliver the highest quality of patient care.

Requirements

  • Doctorate Required
  • Physician License (DR) - Upon Hire Required
  • Board Certification in Specialty Discipline (or eligibility if appropriate) - Upon Hire Required
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
  • ERCP experience
  • Interest in Hepatology
  • Strong focus on clinical excellence and patient satisfaction
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Desire to develop strong ties with the community and build long-lasting relationships with patients

Responsibilities

  • 3 - 4 half days in clinic
  • 3 - 4 half days in surgery
  • 1 full day off
  • Physician Call 1:5 – Physician takes 1 full week call (Friday 8:00 a.m. – Friday 8:00 a.m.), no clinic during call week only hospital procedures and front-line call coverage
  • Call Friday to Thursday, Rotating Holidays
  • Outreach Clinics in LaPorte, Chesterton, Valparaiso (all within 30 minutes commute)
  • Potential Virtual Visits
  • Shared collaboration between physician for APP’s in group
  • Hospital based Nurse Practitioner sees new consults and rounding ahead of physicians
  • Clinic based Nurse Practitioner
  • Work collaboratively with existing medical staff to coordinate and deliver the highest quality of patient care.
