Physician: Gastroenterology Hospitalist - Geneva, IL
About The Position
Northwestern Medicine is seeking a fellowship-trained, Board Eligible/Board Certified Gastroenterology Hospitalist to join their team in Geneva, IL. This is a hospital-based position focused on providing inpatient care and managing acute or critically ill patients. The role involves performing endoscopies generated from the emergency department and the inpatient consult service. The ideal candidate will be proficient in basic upper and lower endoscopy, enteral access (PEG placement), and managing GI emergencies such as upper and lower GI bleeding, food impactions, and volvulus. The hospitalist will collaborate with interventional endoscopists and other subspecialists within Northwestern Medicine.
Requirements
- Fellowship trained
- BE/BC
- Competent in basic upper and lower endoscopy
- Competent in enteral access (PEG placement)
- Competent in management of GI emergencies such as upper and lower GI bleeding, food impactions, and management of volvulus
Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient care and manage the care of acute or critically ill patients.
- Perform endoscopy generated from the emergency department and the inpatient consult service.
- Be competent in basic upper and lower endoscopy.
- Perform enteral access (PEG placement).
- Manage GI emergencies such as upper and lower GI bleeding, food impactions, and management of volvulus.
- Work in conjunction with interventional endoscopists and other NM subspecialists.
