About The Position

Sanford Health has an immediate opening for a BC/BE Family Medicine physician to practice in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. This is a full-time position with a busy clinic practice seeing 15-20 outpatients per weekday. The practice is primarily outpatient, with a pediatric call rotation for the hospital at 1:5. Each Family Medicine Physician is assigned a nurse, office, and two exam rooms. Thief River Falls qualifies as a HPSA site.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion of a Family Medicine residency program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), as applicable.
  • Applicants not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their residency training within the last five years must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
  • Experience can be demonstrated by providing residency procedure log and a list of completed rotations (for those just completing residency).
  • For those not applying directly out of residency, provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing clinical activity for the last 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
  • Provide a case log that includes 25 vaginal deliveries, 50 adult medical patients, and 10 inpatient care of children under the age of 18 (excluding normal newborn), as applicable to privileges being requested, in the last 12 months, to demonstrate active involvement in the clinical aspects of Family Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examination.
  • Admit patients (if applicable to the setting).
  • Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients of all ages with a wide variety of illness, diseases, injuries, mental health conditions, and functional disorders of circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, metabolic, musculoskeletal, hematopoietic, gastroenteric, integumentary, nervous, female reproductive, and genitourinary systems.
  • Provide pre-operative care of surgical patients.
  • Provide post-operative medical care of surgical patients.
  • Address return to work issues.
