About The Position

Practice at Camp Pendleton as a civilian Family Medicine Physician caring for Marines, Sailors, families, and veterans. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Medical malpractice liability insurance is not required as federal civilian healthcare providers are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act. The position is located in Oceanside, California, a coastal city known for its beaches and proximity to major Southern California population centers.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. The degree must have been accredited by a recognized accrediting body.
• For foreign medical schools, education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States must be demonstrated through permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
• Licensure: Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
• Graduate Training: At least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting (e.g., a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program) in an accredited hospital or institution.
• Residency Training for GP-14 Position: Must have successfully completed the required accredited residency training in Family Medicine and equivalent experience and training equal to at least 4 years. Experience may not be substituted for residency training required for the specialty.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Primary Care Optimization (PCO) team leader providing comprehensive outpatient care to beneficiaries ranging from newborn to geriatric age presenting with complex and interdependent acute and chronic conditions.
• Provide pre- and post-deployment health assessments as well as preventive health assessments (PHA).
• Complete administrative paperwork and assessments required of active duty Primary Care Managers.
• Advise other physicians, non-physician providers, and nursing and para-professional staff on the care of patients with urgent, emergent, and non-urgent medical problems.
• Serve as member of the professional medical staff following and modifying hospital plans and policies to meet accrediting agencies’ requirements.
