About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking a BC/BE Family Medicine physician with Sports Medicine Fellowship training to join their Fargo Region team. This physician will work alongside a team of 20 physicians, including orthopedic surgeons, podiatrists, and a primary care sports medicine physician, as well as 19 advanced practice providers. The role offers exceptional support from nurses and athletic trainers, and opportunities to cover various sports teams at the college, professional, high school, and club levels. The position also includes an academic appointment opportunity with the UND School of Medicine, and research opportunities are available.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Successful completion of a residency or fellowship program in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation followed by successful completion of a fellowship in Sports Medicine accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification by the appropriate specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • If not board certified or CAQ at time of application, must have completed fellowship training within the last five years and achieve board certification or CAQ within five years from the date of completion of fellowship training unless waived.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience can be demonstrated by providing a fellowship log if just completed fellowship.
  • If not applying directly out of fellowship, provide a quality profile from hospital(s) showing clinical activity for the past 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
  • Demonstrate clinical involvement in at least 25 sport medicine cases in the last 12 months.
  • If quality profile is not available, documentation of clinical activity for the past 12 months is required, demonstrating clinical involvement in at least 25 sport medicine cases in the last 12 months.
  • Training at residency or fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada may be considered by the Credentials Committee, Physician Executive or Medical Affairs Committee, and the Board of Directors or the Board of Governors.
  • Those who are not board certified or obtained a CAQ at the time of application but have completed fellowship training within the last five years are eligible, but must achieve board certification or CAQ within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless such requirement is waived by the appropriate governing Board.
