About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. Sanford Health – Fargo Region is currently seeking a BC/BE Family Medicine physician with Sports Medicine Fellowship training. Join a team of 20 physicians, including orthopedic surgeons, podiatrists, primary care sports medicine physician, and 19 advanced practice providers. Receive exceptional support from nurses and athletic trainers. Opportunity to cover college sports, professional sports teams, high school teams and club teams. Strong relationships within department. Academic appointment available through UND School of Medicine. Orthopedic Residency program started in 2017. Research opportunities and support services are available.

Requirements

M.D. or D.O. degree.
Successful completion of a residency or fellowship program in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation followed by successful completion of a fellowship in Sports Medicine accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
Certification by the appropriate specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
Those applicants who are not board certified or obtained a certificate of added qualification (CAQ) at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification or CAQ within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless such requirement is waived by the appropriate governing Board.
Demonstrate clinical involvement in at least 25 sport medicine cases in the last 12 months.
If not applying directly out of fellowship, provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the past 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
If a quality profile is not available, documentation of the applicant’s clinical activity for the past 12 months is required.

Academic appointment available through UND School of Medicine.
The Credentials Committee; Physician Executive or Medical Affairs Committee; and the Board of Directors or the Board of Governors may consider training at residency or fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than the ACGME, AOA or Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
Those applicants who are not board certified or obtained a certificate of added qualification (CAQ) at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification or CAQ within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless such requirement is waived by the appropriate governing Board. Responsibilities

Perform history and physical examination.
Admit, evaluate, diagnose, and provide consultation and continuous care to patients of all ages for the enhancement of health and fitness and the prevention of common sports injuries and illnesses.
