The Prisma Health Physician is responsible for the provision of quality medical services to patients of Prisma Health-University Medical Group. This role involves the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease, defects, or injuries, and recommending or prescribing treatments for physical, mental, or functional ailments. The physician will render medical treatment consistent with generally accepted professional standards of care, regardless of the patient's ability to pay or their personal characteristics. Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate and timely medical records, utilizing appropriate coding systems, providing after-hours call coverage, and adhering to the standards of managed care organizations, payors, and accrediting bodies like The Joint Commission. The role also requires maintaining continuing medical education to meet certification and licensing requirements, and actively participating in non-revenue generating activities that support Prisma Health's Vision and Mission, such as committee work, community outreach, teaching, and research, as determined by the Department Chair. Additionally, the physician will participate in responding to requests for proposals for managed care contracts and contribute to the establishment of quality assurance, utilization management, patient education, and patient satisfaction programs. The role also involves assisting the employer in obtaining and maintaining necessary licenses, permits, and accreditations.
