About The Position

William Newton Hospital is seeking a Physician for the Emergency Department. This role involves the immediate assessment, resuscitation, stabilization, diagnosis, and treatment of patients of all ages presenting with critical or unstable conditions. The physician will also be responsible for coordinating care, determining appropriate next steps such as admission, discharge, or transfer, and upholding the hospital's Standards of Behavior: Integrity, Patient-Centeredness, Accountability, Compassion, and Excellence.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • Completion of an accredited 3- to 4-year emergency medicine residency program.
  • Active state medical license.
  • Board certification or eligibility through the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM).
  • High-pressure decision-making skills.
  • Rapid stress management skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Quickly triage and assess arriving patients of all ages to identify critical or unstable conditions.
  • Perform life-saving procedures, manage trauma, and stabilize patients suffering from heart attacks, strokes, severe bleeding, or respiratory failure.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests (such as blood work, X-rays, CT scans, and EKGs) to form rapid clinical decisions.
  • Determine whether to admit patients to the hospital/ICU, discharge them with instructions, or transfer them to a specialist or another facility.
  • Uphold William Newton Hospital’s Standards of Behavior daily.
