About The Position

Corewell Health Children’s department of behavioral health is growing to add a BC/BE Child & Adolescent Outpatient and Consult Liaison Psychiatrist at Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital. This is a great opportunity to be part of a new and growing Child & Adolescent Psychiatry program at Corewell Health! The Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist will split their time between Outpatient and Consult Liaison settings. For the Outpatient Psychiatry role, the Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist will practice within the Dearborn Behavioral Health Clinic. The Dearborn Clinic is a training site for the Corewell Health Psychiatry Residency Program and this role includes resident and student education. The Outpatient Psychiatrist will offer diagnostic psychiatric assessment for child & adolescent patients and psychiatric medication follow-up visits. The Child & Adolescent Psychiatry practice will also include a Child & Adolescent Psychologist. Visits will be a mix of in person clinic and tele-psychiatry with 90-minute new and 30-minute return visits. For the Consult Liaison (CL) Psychiatry role, the Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide telemedicine psychiatric consultation to pediatric units and emergency department for pediatric patients with primary psychiatric conditions or psychiatric comorbidities. The CL Psychiatrist will evaluate, diagnose, and give recommendations for patients on the respective services, and facilitate referrals for long-term treatment when needed for the diverse population served. You will be an employed physician, with knowledgeable practice management professionals assisting in day-to-day operations and take advantage the resources and referral base of the larger Corewell Health East system! Corewell Health East is Michigan’s largest not-for-profit health care system, It is comprised of eight hospitals, 145 outpatient locations, nearly 5,000 physicians and more than 38,000 employees. It is affiliated with Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, Michigan State University college of Osteopathic Medicine and Wayne State University School of Medicine. Requirements

  • BE/BC Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Interest in teaching and supervision of medical students, residents and fellows
  • Unrestricted License and DEA - Michigan
  • MD/DO
  • Graduate of approved Medical College
  • LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-At least one License and/or Certification in area of specialty - UNKNOWN Unknown Pediatrics or Psychiatry Upon Hire required

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing inpatient consultations on patients where there is a question of psychiatric issues.
  • Participate in QI/QA and peer review initiatives as requested.
  • Completion of health system clinical and safety mandatories to ensure corporate compliance.
  • Complete all clinical documentation, as applicable, in a timely manner consistent with health system, payer and regulatory requirements, if applicable.
  • Complete Beaumont clinical and safety mandatories and Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine (“OUWB School of Medicine”) mandatories, as applicable, on a timely basis to ensure corporate compliance.
  • If faculty, fulfill meaningful participation criteria within the OUWB School of Medicine by delivering lectures, committee service, or other participation.
  • Participate in activities related to improving operational and financial performance, quality and patient satisfaction as requested.
  • Offer diagnostic psychiatric assessment for child & adolescent patients and psychiatric medication follow-up visits.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide telemedicine psychiatric consultation to pediatric units and emergency department for pediatric patients with primary psychiatric conditions or psychiatric comorbidities.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and give recommendations for patients on the respective services, and facilitate referrals for long-term treatment when needed for the diverse population served.
